Pinoy Pop Star 2010
52 semi-finalists chosen to compete at Club Regent Casino Fifty-two singers have passed the first phase of Pinoy Pop Star 2010 and will go on to perform in the semi-finals at Jaguars Dance Club in the Club Regent Casino later this month. A joint project of the Pilipino Express News Magazine and the Manitoba Lotteries Corporation, this year’s Pinoy Pop Star attracted scores of talented vocalists to three full days of auditions at the McPhillips Station Casino last month. The live auditions were held before a panel of judges behind closed doors but now the 52 semi-finalists are preparing to perform before a public audience. The overwhelming number of contestants (see pages 12 & 13) means that the semi-final performances of Pinoy Pop Star 2010 will run for two consecutive nights at Jaguars, starting at 8 pm on Tuesday, February 23 and Wednesday, February 24. Thirty singers will perform on the first night while the remaining 22 singers will perform on the second night. All 52 semi-finalists will draw ballots at the Pilipino Express office on February 5 to determine on which night they will perform and their place in the sequence of performances. For ticket buyers who want to know when their favourite semi-finalists will perform, the full program sequence will be published in the next issue of the Pilipino Express and posted on the web site (www.pilipino-express.com) on February 6. An exciting – as yet unnamed – special guest is slated to entertain the audience with a mini-concert during the final tabulation of the scores on the second night of the semi-finals. The semi-finals nights will wrap up with the announcement of the names of the 12 finalists who will compete in the 2010 Pinoy Pop Star Grand Finals on the main stage of the McPhillips Station Casino on March 23. Tickets for the Pinoy Pop Star 2010 Semi-finals go on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster on Thursday, February 4 but Casino Club Card holders can buy a day earlier on February 3. |
