MANITOBA – Long-time Liberal MLA Kevin Lamoureux won the federal seat of Winnipeg North in an extremely close and hard-fought campaign against New Democratic Party rival and newcomer Kevin Chief in the by-election held on November 29.

After five intense weeks of the official campaign and months of unofficial campaigning between the two leading candidates, it came down to margin of only 798 votes.
