Engineering Christmas cheer

by Ethel Clemente-Fernandez

The Filipino Members Chapter celebrated the true meaning of Christmas by participating in the Feed-a-Family program of the Christmas Cheer Board.

Even with only ten days to prepare and collect donations from members, the hampers were remarkably filled in time to meet the December 16th delivery. Volunteers put in extra effort and time to collect the donations.

It is heart warming to know that even at the busiest time of the year and with looming holiday expenses, sharing and caring is pretty much a part of the Filipinos’ way of life.

The community spirit was evident in the generous donations of food and cash, and volunteers who made sure each basket included a turkey, toys and all of the fixings for a Christmas dinner.

The sincere act to help and camaraderie warmed up the chilly winter weather making loading and delivery a breeze. And nothing compares to the feeling of fulfillment and happiness knowing that a couple of families in need will have a merry Christmas.
