March madness

I recently had the pleasure of taking on the emcee duties at the Pinoy Pop Star Semi-Finals, held at the Club Regent Casino. It didn’t take long to see (and hear) that we have many great talents in Winnipeg. I am looking forward to the Finals that will be held later this month (March 23rd) at McPhillips Street Station Casino. If last year was any indication as to calibre of the singing talents and the professionalism of the casino stage crew, this year’s event will be just as exciting and entertaining as last year.

With the fastest growing immigrant population in Manitoba, it is also evident that we Filipinos are a proud people and have no qualms in supporting our kababayan. I mean, who wouldn’t support their friends and family at a public venue in one of Manitoba’s most visited casinos? Let’s not forget the amount of legwork needed to put on an event of this size. Kudos to the organizers based in the Pilipino Express offices who put this plan into action and to the volunteers and generous sponsors. Without their support, the event could not go on.
