movie gets VOD release
The hit Winnipeg-Filipino movie, I Propose We Never See Each Other Again After Tonight, is now showing on several Video On Demand (VOD) outlets on.
Audiences are now able to watch the movie from the safety of their own homes on Rogers, Shaw, Telus, Bell, Vubiquity, Cogeco, iTunes, Sony, Cineplex, and Google. Hoopla will also release the film on December 29th.
With a cast of mainly Winnipeg Filipino actors, including Hera Nalam, Andrea Macasaet, and Mithus Mallari, the film has become this year’s come-from-behind success story – despite having no marketing budget in the midst of a pandemic and cinemas being shut down for a second time across the country.
The movie was originally set for theatrical release last March but was delayed due to the first pandemic lockdown. When it was finally released in August, it spent its first three weeks as one of “Canada’s Top Five Canadian Box Office Successes” in Playback magazine. It was held over for 10 consecutive weeks at the Cineplex Northgate and eight weeks at the Cineplex McGillivray in Winnipeg, seven weeks in Edmonton, and five weeks at Canada Square in Toronto. In total, the movie was screened at 19 cinemas in 17 cities.
“Canadian films usually get chased out of cinemas by a deluge of Hollywood product,” said director, Sean Garrity, “but due to the unusual circumstances of 2020, we were able to hold on to screens long enough to really find our audience.”
Garrity also said that the production is now in talks with a Filipino company to play the film in the Philippines.
I Propose We Never See Each Other Again After Tonight, features Canadian actors, Hera Nalam, Kristian Jordan, Andrea Macasaet, Mithus Mallari, Elmer Aquino, Mel Hizon, Gio Navarro, Bernie Pastorin, Armie Recuenco, Joy Reyes, and Yasmin Reyes.
