On Sunday, December 5, Pinays Manitoba, an organization of Filipino women, held its Christmas lunch at Max’s Restaurant in Winnipeg. The weather forecast for that day was bleak – blowing snow with strong winds – but mother nature thought otherwise. It was still wintry cold outside, but the expected blizzard-like conditions did not happen. Close to 60 guests – families and friends of Pinays members – enjoyed the fellowship, delicious lunch prepared by Max’s Restaurant, singing, games and raffle draws. Almost everyone went home with a prize. Major raffle prizes were given by Tiber River, Ryan Cruz of Canada Protection Plan, and Max’s Restaurant Winnipeg. The Pinays choir, directed by Joy Lazo, sang Christmas carols. Lucille Nolasco of 92.7 CKJS emceed the program. |
