Senator Enverga visits fellow Knights of Rizal in Winnipeg

By Felino de Jesus

On April 12, 2013, Senator Tobias (Jun) Enverga and his wife Lady Rosemer received a warm welcome from his fellow members of the Knights of Rizal, Winnipeg Chapter, his family (Magsino-Enverga) and the Filipino community on his first visit as a Senator to Winnipeg.

Sir Jun is a member of the Knights of Rizal, Dimasalang Chapter in Scarborough, Ontario. He was a Deputy Commander of the Knights of Rizal in the Central Canada Area before his appointment to the Canadian Senate. He was employed by the Bank of Montreal as a Project Manager where he applied his education in Bachelors of Arts in Economics from Letran College in the Philippines, Masters Certificate in Project Management at York University’s Schulich School of Business and Computer studies certificate from Centennial College in Toronto, Canada.

His hard work in the Filipino Community and community at large in Toronto did not go un-noticed. He was appointed as the first Filipino Senator to ever serve in Canada’s House of Commons Upper Chamber. He expects to be back in Winnipeg this summer. Paraphrasing the Senator, he said, “I will represent Filipino interests across Canada.” He also extended his appreciation for the warm welcome that he and his wife received from Winnipeggers.
