Jasmine Curtis, the younger sister of ABS-CBN Kapamilya star Anne Curtis has joined her older sister in the Philippine showbiz industry. She is now the star to watch as she stars in the upcoming primetime teleserye, Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum. Slated to premiere this September, the teleserye is a TV5 adaptation of the box office hit movie in the 80s. The younger Curtis plays the role of Bing, previously played by Vina Morales in the movie version. She is being paired with JC de Vera playing the role of Ben, the role played by Robin Padilla then. Aside from JC and Jasmine, other cast-members include Empoy and Rainier Castillo. Jasmine is co-managed by Betchay Vidanes, Robin Padilla’s manager, and W Talent Management. She realizes that her big sister Anne has made things a lot easier for her to enter showbiz. “She started as no one in this industry. She started as a girl who would just say ‘opo’ in one movie. And now, she has all the lines in the movie, di ba? Since I experienced things before through my ate, I see her working a lot. I thought it’s way too hard and it’s nothing that I’m interested in. But as I grew up, I got to experience drama in school plays, I also enjoyed it more and made me interested in an acting career,” said Jasmine. The TV series has been in production since December 2010. That was when she signed a three-year exclusive contract with TV5. She is based in Melbourne, Australia where she is still finishing her studies as an 11th grader. Jasmine is happy that she has her first TV project and that some parts of it were shot in Australia. She stayed in the Philippines until February this year while on vacation from school. “I’m really happy to join the Kapatid network kasi they’re giving me the opportunity to grow with both my education and as well as my future career… fortunately, TV5, talagang nag-adjust sila for my education and they’re working around my school commitments. They know when I’m free… I’m committed to coming here whenever I’m free and work for them,” said Jasmine. She wants to balance both her studies and her budding showbiz career. |
