Shamcey Supsup finishes in top 5 of Miss Universe pageant
São Paulo, Brazil – Shamcey Supsup of General Santos City placed third runner up in the 60th Miss Universe pageant at the Credicard Hall in São Paulo, Brazil on September 12, 2011.
Supsup, a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Architecture, topped 85 other beauties in the pageant but it was Leila Lopes of Angola who took the top spot with Ukraine’s Olesya Stefanko taking first runner up and Priscilla Machado of Brazil placing second runner up. Luo Zilin of China was the fourth runner up.
In spite of her achievement in the pageant, many of Supsup’s fans were reportedly dissatisfy with the result, saying that she should have won. Supsup responded to this on Philippine television saying, “Well, una masaya dahil they consider me as the Miss Universe pero para sa’kin, we’re not the judges there, and I accept the fact na I’m third runner-up and I’m already happy. I think we should be happy also for Miss Angola that she won, and I think that she also deserves the crown. Someone will lose, someone will win.”
Supsup is expected to arrive in the Philippines on Sunday, September 18, 2011 after a short stay in Los Angeles, California.
