There are times when I meet new and old friends and I encourage them to try Zumba fitness, but they tell me they have two left feet, they can’t follow the steps, they think it’s hard, etc. It’s a big misconception, really.

The Zumba fitness program caters to all levels of fitness. Young or old, slow or fast. Everybody can do Zumba!

Particularly for the 55-plus population who need or want to stay in shape and get their regular dose of exercise without feeling like its exercise, there is Zumba® Gold! This is perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower intensity.

This class features easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. After class, participants will feel empowered and strong!

And even if you are 54 and younger, and you want slower, simpler movements, Zumba® Gold is your fitness program.

Recently, I have completed Zumba® Gold training with the wonderful ZES Ricardo Marmitte. You would think that Zumba Gold would be easier and simpler to teach, right? Wrong. It takes a lot of patience and since the movements are slower, they are actually harder on the body, especially if you are used to doing faster and more complex movements such as in a regular Zumba class.

All in all, Zumba® Gold training was enjoyable and rewarding. My fellow ZINs and I are excited to share our new knowledge and skills for better health and fitness.
